CV check without AI: what it shows and misses
A CV check without AI compares the words in your CV with the words in a job ad. In Jobvance it needs a free account, runs on your device, shows the closest line from your CV beside each result and gives no fit percentage. Matching words are a starting point, not a verdict, so the useful work is reading each result yourself.
What to take with you
- A check without AI compares wording, not meaning.
- Read the closest CV line beside every requirement.
- Choose AI tailoring only if you want rewording, and review each change.
What “without AI” means for this check
A CV check without AI compares your CV with a job ad and leaves out the AI step. You need a free Jobvance account to open the check. In it, Compare without AI reads your CV file on your device and compares it with the job ad on your device. The original file is not uploaded, and this step sends no text to an AI provider.
The check reads the requirements in the ad, up to the first 40 parsed requirements in English, and looks in your CV for the ad's wording. Where it finds a line, it shows that line beside the requirement together with its line number, so you can check the match yourself rather than trusting a number.

What the result shows
Each requirement receives one of four outcomes. They compare the wording of the two documents you supplied. They do not decide whether you qualify or predict what an employer will decide, and Jobvance gives no fit percentage or ATS score.

- Covered: the ad's wording appears in your CV, with the closest line shown.
- Partly covered: a related line exists, but it may describe different work.
- Not shown in your CV: no line shows it, which may mean a missing example or the experience itself is absent.
- Needs your judgment: a condition such as work rights or a licence that only you can confirm.
What it cannot see
Matching wording is a starting point. The check can notice that two lines share words, but it does not verify that the work behind them is the same, or that the claims in your CV are true. It is an English wording check. Scanned PDFs and old .doc files need converting first.
The check cannot know about experience you have not written down. A gap in the result can mean that your CV leaves out a true example, or that it describes the work in other words than the ad does. Treat a gap as a question to answer, not a verdict: do you have a truthful example, or is the experience genuinely absent?

An invented example for illustration, not a customer result. The ad asks you to lead the forecasting process. Your CV says you supported the finance manager by preparing forecast inputs. The check may mark the requirement Partly covered and show that line beside it, because the line says 'supported' where the ad says 'lead'. The check compares wording and does not judge the work. You decide whether to describe your contribution more precisely, or to leave the gap visible. You should not change the verb to match the ad unless it is true.
What AI tailoring adds, and what it sends
AI tailoring is a separate, optional choice beside Compare without AI. It rewords and reorders what is already in your CV, can add a short profile built from your own lines, and lists each change beside your original wording. To prepare a version, your CV text and the job description, title and company are sent to Jobvance's AI provider. If you use the optional step that improves your CV with answers you confirm, those answers are sent too, and a line built from an answer is marked 'from your answer'. Compare without AI stays on your device. AI tailoring does not: it sends that text to the provider.
Each change is checked by rules against its source CV lines and any confirmed answers you attached to those lines. Unsupported additions of numbers, capitalised names or tools, qualification words or stronger ownership verbs are rejected. That is a rule check on wording, not a fact-check of your CV, so you still read every change before you download.

A ten-minute routine
Open the check with your CV and one job ad, and read the requirements the check found before you read any result. Then take the outcomes in order. For each Not shown in your CV, ask whether you have a true example and add it with enough context for a person to understand it. For each Partly covered, read both lines and decide whether they describe the same work.
For each Needs your judgment, check the condition in the original vacancy yourself. When you are done, write down the strongest relevant example, the most important open requirement and your next step. If you want rewording, AI tailoring is the other choice beside Compare without AI, and any gap that remains should stay visible. A free account is needed to open the check, and comparing without AI has no limit.
